HOW IT IS FORMED
Jade holds important clues about major events that have taken place on the Earth, such as earthquakes, mountain formations, and plate collisions. It found in serpentines near faults because it is made up of the minerals that flow through the water in the cracks that for during an earthquake. When the cracks open up again during another earthquake, a new layer of rock is formed. As the process repeats over millions of years, large jade deposits form.

Jade is carved into statues for ritual items and gems for jewelry. In ancient China, jade was associated with yang energy and the sun gods of Chinese mythology. Considered to be a lucky stone, traders would hold jade in the palm of their hand during business deals.
