HOW IT IS FORMED

Commonly found in India, Brazil, Siberia, Egypt, and Germany, carnelian is an orange colored microcrystalline quartz, getting its color from chalcedony silica and other minerals. Colors of this translucent stone range from pale orange to deep rusty brown, getting its reddish tints from components like iron oxide.

HISTORY & LEGENDS

Throughout Egyptian history, carnelian has been known as the "setting sun stone". Ancient Egyptians used the stone to assist the dead in their journey to the afterlife while Romans used the stone for courage, shoring confidence and strength in battle.
